I’ve had my BIRCHBOX subscription for about 3 years now, which means I’ve had plenty of samples to try. One of my favorite things to get are different masks or facial scrubs. I pretty much exclusively use my Clarisonic which I absolutely love, but sometimes it’s nice to mix it up and get to try something different without a major expense; which is basically the entire idea behind BIRCHBOX.
It seems that in the past few months, I’ve somehow accumulated quite a few masks and scrubs. So I thought I’d try a few out and tell you what I think about them. Obviously, I did not try these all on the same night, because that would not make any sense. Over the course of the week, I tried using one or two of these products to see how I liked them.
First up, I tried this BrightenUp! face rejuvenator by Vasanti. It works pretty much like a scrub, which I was pretty indifferent to since I’m committed to my Clarisonic. I tried this out and was definitely surprised by how much I liked it. I thought it left my skin really soft and I felt like my skin was, in fact, brighter. It was also really gentle; I am prone to redness and didn’t have any after this, even with the little beads in it. I would absolutely buy the full size of this and recommend it. It also has 33,000 reviews with 4.5 stars on BIRCHBOX, which I feel like is a lot of reviews for a face scrub, so it must the real deal.
Next, I tried the Shiseido Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate. This name is absolutely ridiculous, what does that even mean? But I’ve seen this stuff in department stores and online and have vaguely heard its great, but never felt the urge to try it. Mainly because I am not Nene Leakes rich. But since it was sent to me in sample size, sure I’ll try it and see what the big deal is. Ummmm, the big deal is that it leaves your skin super soft and when you wake up the next morning it’s even softer and brighter and does not leave your skin feeling gross because you put on lots of moisturizer the night before. Totally get what the big deal is about this. Buy it if you have cash to burn or better, ask someone for it as a gift, obviously someone who loves you $65 worth. I tried this suki face foaming cleanser on a different night and was kind of indifferent to it. I thought this was a good scrub, but it was a little harsh on my sensitive skin; I know, my skin is so full of feelings. I think I would actually use this scrub on my body and like it better. I don’t know if it’s supposed to be used for that, but whatever if I pay for it, I’ll use it how I want. This scrub is also supposed to be all-natural, organic lemongrass and chamomile infused blah blah blah. You get the idea. I’d probably like to try some of this brand’s other products because I did really like the scent and the whole organic, all-natural thing is appealing to the basic white girl in me. I’d say if you don’t have sensitive skin, try this out.
I had genuinely been dying to get this Cuppa Cuppa Firming Tea Treatment Mask in my BIRCHBOX last month. I’m a BIRCHBOX Ace, which I think just means I need to reassess my finances because I spend too much money with them, but I also get to pick one of my samples. Immediately after watching the sneak peak video, I was dying for this. I honestly don’t really know why. It just seemed like a great product and it was a super cute package and I love tea so yeah, whatever, I didn’t have really deep reasons for choosing my beauty sample in my beauty sample box. This absolutely did not disappoint. I am in love with this mask. I felt like my skin was ultra smooth and firm and it didn’t leave my oily skin dried out at all and I didn’t have any weird reaction to it; which can happen when you have sensitive skin. This clay mask is made from different teas and the great part is that it only stays on for 8 minutes. This is also a little on the pricey side, but 100% worth it.
Next up, I tried this boscia Thermal Black Cleanser. I had no idea what it was, but BIRCHBOX sent it and I’m obviously a sucker for anything they send me, so I tried it out. To be honest, I don’t have a whole lot to say about this other than that it was really weird. It’s a mask, but it comes out black, which for some reason was really weird to me. It was a little too much like putting mud or something on my face; I was just not into it. I did think it made my skin look good, but it wasn’t enough to make me want to commit to a full size version. If you aren’t bothered by this, then I would say try out the line of products and see how you like it. I love boscia’s blotting wipes and a few other products.
Lastly, I tried this Acure Sensitive Facial Cleanser. I really like this cleanser. I thought it was really mild and didn’t cause and redness. It smells pretty decent, nothing too outstanding though. This cleanser is also organic and has probiotics in it for some reason? Not entirely sure why my face needs to be cleaned with probiotics, but it’s probably really great for you. While I thought this cleanser was really good and I was happy to use it in a travel size, it wasn’t enough to make me leave behind my Clarisonic deep cleaning.
I’m sure I’ll have plenty more masks, cleansers, makeup, beauty galore to share with you soon since my BIRCHBOX has been phenomenal lately. Let me know what some of your favorite masks and scrubs are or if you have BIRCHBOX, did you try any of these?
