Fall is usually rough a time of year for me style-wise. It took me a long (seriously long) time to get myself comfortable with the fact that I’m just not a Fall colors kind of girl.
The colors I wear best are cream, blush, light grey, and black. Not exactly what you think of when you think Fall. I feel like in the last couple of years I finally hit the wall where I was like “you know what? I’m too old for this shit. I’m just going to wear whatever I want.”
This applies to basically everything and not just Fall clothes, but this breakthrough did come in the dressing room of a J.Crew on Madison Ave after I spent an entire afternoon trying to make a mix of reds, oranges, greens, and purples work. Obviously it didn’t happen. I left and walked to Magnolia Bakery inside Bloomingdales and ate all my feelings. I regret nothing.
Coming to the realization that as much as I like earth tones on other people, I’m just never going to be that girl. I try to mix in a few darker items because honestly who doesn’t love to wear some plaid, flannel, or riding boots when the leaves start to turn.
I’ve finally found a decent balance between my staple color palette and seasonal pieces I want to mix in. This Fall, my favorite casual jacket is this green military style jacket. I picked this one up at Old Navy for a steal and have been mixing it with cream and blush pretty regularly.
I love how soft this jacket is and it works with so many of my clothes. Depending on your skin tone, it can be so hard to find the right shade of olive green.
My number one obsession this season is lace up flats. I know I definitely already mentioned how much I love lace up flats, but I cannot say it enough.
They are just so adorable and give a little extra something to your outfit that you don’t get from plain old flats.
I have been living in these lace up flats from Topshop. Seriously, I bought them in three colors that’s how much I’m obsessed with these.
