Since it’s been miserably cold lately, I’ve had plenty of time to spend inside. Since I’ve exhausted my Netflix list and I need something to do while I drink wine, I’ve been getting caught up on a lot of reading. I’m always looking for good recommendations so if you have any, comment below.
I just bought The Girl on the Train this past weekend, so I haven’t started it yet. I’ve read a lot of great reviews on it lately so I picked it up to read next. It’s supposed to be a thriller and has been compared to Gone Girl quite a bit. The main character, Rachel, takes the train in to London every morning and passes the same house in her old neighborhood which belongs to what she imagines is the perfect couple. The woman who lives in the house ends up missing and from there the reader follows along to find out what happened and if Rachel is involved. It sounds really exciting and I can’t wait to read this.
I just started reading Game of Thrones and admittedly it’s kind of taking over my life. If you’ve watched the show, reading the books is really interesting because like with so many books to movies/tv shows, you get so much back story and added detail. Since I’m pretty much obsessed with Jon Snow the tv show, the books are now feeding my addiction.
If you haven’t figured out by now, I love to cook. Well, to be honest I love to bake. Cooking is not that easy for me. I’m a big fan of having a recipe and exact measurements and knowing the outcome to expect. I’m an auditor, so you can see why this appeals to me. But I’ve made it my goal for this year to get better at cooking and getting more comfortable with ingredients to cook more to taste than by recipe.
In my efforts to be better at cooking, I picked up Jessica Seinfeld’s The Can’t Cook Book. If you are not a cook, as in you go to the grocery store or take out every night, but want to be better at cooking, then you should pick this up. It gives you recipes and tells you exactly what is going to be difficult to do and steps to get through it.
