Faux Fur is THE trend this Winter. So many brands are putting out really great pieces at amazing prices and they’ve been selling out so fast. I pretty much immediately jumped on the faux fur bandwagon this year by ordering this bomber the second it came out. I’ve also picked up 2 more pieces because you know why not, including this gorgeous black fur cape.
I’ve always had a love affair with faux fur, but it’s honestly always been hard for me to find the pieces that fit quite right. Luckily, Banana Republic has put out loads of options this year and they all have an amazing fit. Everything I’ve bought so far has been a Banana find.
One of the things I think about most with it though is “can I wear faux fur to the office?” It seems like a silly question, but the minute I go to put it on before heading out in the morning I find myself second guessing it. So I’ve tried lots of outfits and lots of faux fur pieces to find my answer. It’s not exactly a straightforward answer though, it kind of comes down to your office and your comfort level. If you’re like me and work in a conservative, business suits only, office it can be hard to know if you’re toeing a dress code line. What I’ve found to work is pieces like this black cape. It’s simple, classic, and a more formal style which works for work, formal parties, weddings, etc. I’ve only worn my faux fur bomber on jeans days or business casual days. It just has too casual a feel to it for me to feel comfortable wearing it in such a formal setting.
The key to working faux fur to the office is to remember to keep it simple. Stick with solid colors if you want to avoid feeling like your outfit is too bold or too much. If you want something a little more fun for the holidays, try these metallic pants for a dressier look. They’re my favorite cut from Banana Republic, the Avery. They’re an ankle length, straight leg which I love so I can wear with heels or flats. As soon as I saw this metallic version I knew it was meant to be for the holidays.
