Floral Dress c/o Banana Republic | Black Sandals c/o Banana Republic | Clutch | Sunglasses

It feels like this weekend truly marked the start of Summer here in St. Louis. It was scorching hot and the humidity showed up right on time to kick things off. I’ve basically been living in dresses for the last week because it’s been so hot. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining because I love Summer. One of the hardest things to shop for in hot weather is the Summer wedding dress. I’ve been to a few middle of Summer weddings and it’s always sweaty and terrible, but I’m trying to stay put together and sophisticated.

The key to finding a Summer wedding dress is to look for light, breathable fabric and a mix of light and dark colors. I love this floral dress for a Summer wedding because it hits everything on my list. It’s so lightweight and the pattern makes it great for an outdoor Summer wedding where you’ll inevitably end up sweating a little (or a lot) and won’t want it to be obvious. It also comes in black which is another great option.

Another hugely important factor for me in finding a chic Summer wedding dress is that I have to be able to wear flats with it. I love wearing heels, but walking on grass in them never works out. Not to mention that you’ll want to be comfortable for a long night of dancing and standing. I’ve been looking for a great, stylish pair of black sandals for what feels like years. I could just never find the right pair that were easy to dress up or down, but these are perfect with the little braided detail. These can easily be worn at something as formal as a wedding or with denim shorts to run errands. There’s also a similar block heel version which is super comfortable.

My love for Banana Republic is basically summed up in this one outfit. I’ve been such a fan of the brand for so long because I can wear so much of it for everything in my life. Investing in quality clothes that you can wear for everything is so important to building a great wardrobe. I love being able to wear this outfit to a wedding or just out to dinner with the girls. This outfit totally speaks for itself, but you can make it work for anything with the right accessories. If you want something more casual, just grab a straw tote and some oversized tortoise sunnies and run out the door.

Do you have any tips for surviving hot Summer weddings?
