July Reading List

So it’s been a while since my last reading list. I’ve actually been pretty busy this summer crushing tons of books. I don’t even have that much free time, but somehow keep finding books I can’t put down. So hopefully you have way more free time than I do to get through all of these.

1. Modern Romance by Aziz Ansari

So pretty much everyone knows Aziz Ansari as Tom from Parks & Rec. He also does incredibly hilarious stand up as well. His new book Modern Romance is a funny, but insightful look at dating today. The book has been getting tons of really great reviews so I’m really excited to read this, mainly because Aziz is so funny.

2. The Summer Table

Summer is a great time for cooking. So many easy, no effort recipes. This book is full of good recipes and the photography is gorgeous. There are tons of great ideas for picnics and outdoor dining as well.

3. I Take You by Eliza Kennedy

I bought this book with the intention of reading it over 4th of July weekend. I actually ended up reading this book in one day. It was so good. The book is about Lily, who is getting married in Key West, but leading up to the wedding she’s not exactly sure Will’s The One or that she’s the marrying kind of girl. I Take You is hilarious and Lily’s character is a really strong female lawyer who doesn’t really take any shit. Anyone who has ever been victim to mansplaining (men explaining things to your girl brain) will love this book and Lily’s work crisis.

4. The Astronaut Wives Club by Lily Koppel

Little known fact, I am obsessed with astronauts and NASA. I know, it’s a pretty weird interest, but I have always loved space and reading about the first astronauts. I was writing book reports on Alan Shepard in 5th grade. My mom actually recommended this book to me. It’s a really interesting read and way more positive and less dramatic than the ABC show based on the book. Bonus, this book is only $4 currently, which you basically can’t pass up.

5. Gumption by Nick Offerman

So I love Nick Offerman. Ron Swanson is absolutely who I want to be when I grow up. His first book Paddle Your Own Canoe is one of the funniest books I’ve ever read. I have no doubt that Gumption will be equally hilarious. I found signed copies of this book on Barnes and Noble if you’re into that sort of thing. I like to collect signed copies of books because I just think they are cool.

What books are you reading this summer? I always need good recommendations so if you have any pass them along!
