When the weather gets cold, I tend to stay inside at every possible chance. Winter can make it so hard to keep up with friends between the holidays, bad weather, and busy schedules. It’s so easy to get caught up in all the reasons you don’t have time for anything. The best thing to do when you get in a Winter slump is to talk to one of your friends!
This month, make plans with your best friend or that friend you haven’t seen in ages to grab a coffee or a hot chocolate. If you’re saving money this year (go you!), invite them over and make your own or have afternoon tea at home. If you’re in a long distance friendship, set a time to call or FaceTime her and have long distance coffee together. It’s shown that maintaining friendships can reduce stress, increase happiness, and help you live longer.
If you’re anything like me and trying very hard to be less stressed and more mindful of your everyday life, then building strong relationships is a great starting point. I’ve never been great about making casual plans to just grab a coffee or inviting a friend over for a chat. I remember the days of being a kid and talking to my best friend on the phone for ages. I keep up with so many of my relationships via text and while it actually works well for me, I want to have stronger, more personal relationships this year.
So make an effort in the next few weeks to grab a cup of coffee and catch up with your friend. Share your coffee dates using #AYearInChic!
