So to be completely honest, about 80% of my motivation to work out comes from having cute workout clothes. The rest of my motivation is 15% not wanting to die alone and 5% for the discounts I get on my health insurance.
If you follow me on Instagram, you know my workout of choice is barre. I’ve been going to Barre3 for a little over a year and love it. I’m the type of person who has zero motivation to figure anything out for myself in a gym so I just need someone to tell me what to do for an hour. It’s the first class based workout I’ve done where I didn’t feel intimidated or like I was doing everything wrong.
The thing is that workout gear can be kind of expensive. I mean it’s not like it’s what is toning my muscles or losing weight. But those Lululemon pants do make my butt look amazing in my opinion, so whatever I’ll keep paying ridiculous prices for them.
That’s also what makes workout gear really good Christmas presents. It’s stuff I really want, but am so hesitant to spend money on. I actually asked my mom for these Stella McCartney for Adidas pants and these sneakers. For some reason getting workout clothes as presents also somehow makes me feel less guilty about wearing them for their other obvious purpose of drinking wine and watching Netflix.
For this gift guide, I rounded up all my favorite picks for workout clothes. These picks also have the added benefit of being able to be worn pretty much anywhere and still look chic, i.e. you can be me at Neiman’s on a Saturday morning post-barre trying to decide what Prada bag holds the most chicken nuggets.
What are some of your favorite brands for workout gear? I’d love to get some more recommendations!
