Designer Gift Guide

I have a confession, I am the absolute worst person to buy gifts for. My poor mother has dealt with my Christmas list for years and never complains that her daughter is a neurotic lunatic. I can’t help it (I totally can) but I just like the things that I like and if I see something I want I buy it when I want it which makes me incredibly difficult to shop for. So how do you shop for someone who is impossible to find a gift for and already has everything?

Well if they have a love of designers then there are some great gift ideas that are actually in your budget and really unique. I love gifting someone a designer piece that wasn’t actually that expensive because 1) I have a budget and 2) I actually prefer the small designer pieces that add a little something extra to the every day instead of a giant logo. Don’t get me wrong, I love my Gucci belts and Louis Vuitton bags. But I prefer something more subtle generally.

The number one designer gift idea I’ve found this year is an Hermes dish to use as a jewelry display or catch-all on your dresser or nightstand. I got this idea while I was doing some research on how many organs I’d have to sell for an Hermes cup and saucer for my daily coffee. Since the cup and saucer were a bit out of my budget, I found this Hermes bread and butter plate and had the genius idea to use it on my dresser for jewelry.

A classic gift idea is this Burberry cashmere scarf. It’s timeless and so functional. It’s definitely a designer piece that will last forever. If you want a functional and classic gift, a great pair of designer sunglasses are always a good idea. I am obsessed with these great Dior sunglasses and their retro round frames. Another classic, easy designer gift idea is a gorgeous bottle of perfume. I am in love with this new Tiffany perfume and the beautiful gift set it comes in.

A slightly bigger commitment, but equally classic gift is the Gucci Disco bag. It’s one of the most iconic designer bags and is perfect for anyone. The size makes it great for every day, but also perfect for travel or throwing in a tote bag. Another splurge, yet affordable option are these Oscar de la Renta bow earrings. I think these are some of the most gorgeous earrings I’ve ever seen and they are perfect for the holidays, but also year-round.

If you are looking for a small, everyday designer gift idea, the Dior Lip Glow is the absolute best simple lip color. It’s the perfect soft pink and also comes in a few other colors. Another good everyday gift is this YSL bill pouch. I love the simplicity of having a really nice wallet. It’s a great gift for someone who loves to just grab their wallet instead of taking their whole purse.

There are lots of ways to gift designer items at every budget. Finding things outside the normal, high-dollar items like handbags, shoes, and clothes is how to find unique and thoughtful designer gifts.
